Ah, Europe. First they put all their chips on the Astra-Zeneca vaccine. Then they ban its use, with Italy even bringing murder charges. Now they propose a "vaccine passport" so that the non-existent immunized people can travel freely.

The news is improving globally. All countries experienced fewer than 1,000 fatalities yesterday, with the US at 719. This global trend can't be the vacccines, because outside the US and Israel they've only begun to be distributed. Apparently the "dark winter" wave has just run its course.

In the US, fatalities have continued at a higher level than we would have expected given the fall in cases -- which is to say that the case-mortality rate has risen somewhat. Finally, the US reports under 1,000 daily fatalities, for the first time since November.
