New daily cases are now far off the "dark winter" highs in every state, country and territory that we look at. Probably too soon to attribute it to the vaccines -- their job is to keep the next wave from happening.

It appears that the reported jump in US fatalities is due to Ohio's catch-up filing of fatalities that actually took place months ago. We are adjusting our US daily time series accordingly, but the cumulative tally stands.

US new cases, hospitalizations, ICU and ventilators are all falling hard, yet our highly respected and widely used data source reports a record death-toll at 5,418. The CDC is reporting 3,589 -- we're not sure what the discrepancy is. On the face of it, either number is rather difficult to believe with so much other progress having been made.

The two-week new case charts on page 10 are astonishing -- the same sharp downtrend in all US states. Fatalities are grudgingly starting to fall, but there's a mystery as to why so many are still dying.

In the US, all states and territories are in declining two-week case trends. All are in declining test-positivity ratio trends, too, except for Oregon.

Several weeks ago Arizona emerged as the worst jurisdiction we follow in terms of cumulative Covid-19 cases, now at almost 11% of the population. Now it is number one in fatalities too, at almost 20 bp of the population, edging out the previous number one, New York, at 19 bp.
