In the US, two-week new case and case-positivity trends are improving in a strong majority of states. For both metrics, hot-spot Michigan has turned around and is now among the best-trending five.

Happy Herd Immunity Day! 60% of the population above 18 has either had Covid already, or has been vaccinated twice. Yes, we make the assumption that 60% is what it takes and that the previously infected and the immunized are separate populations; and we consider only adults. On the other side, though, we give no immunity credit to the millions of persons who were infected but never diagnosed, or who have natural T-cell immunity. No matter how you slice it, this is a great day. Why are you only hearing this here? Just asking…

The New York Times, as always promoting the establishment narrative while fancying itself to be the vanguard of radical thought, blares in its headline, "CDC Lifts Recommended Pause on Johnson & Johnson Vaccine." No, it wasn't "recommended." It was commanded. And it was a mis-step that cost lives and eroded confidence.

Facing the worst infection rate in the US, Michigan governor Whitmer tried to get more vaccines, but the CDC turned her down (she's only distributed half what she already had). They told her to lock down instead, but she says now she won't because of GOP lawsuits. We don't care whom she blames for doing the right thing -- she is in fact doing the right thing (at last, having done every wrong thing first). This fiasco proves our point that the era of lockdowns is over.

US adult herd immunity now in just 13 days and, as we predicted, the resulting re-opening is exuberant. In "Recommended Reading" -- Floridians are now taking to jumping open drawbridges in their speeding vehicles. As always, the experts miss the reality: "Although two jumps have been recorded within two months, Mr. Bendayan said he had not noticed a pattern of bridge-jump attempts."
