In "Recommended Reading," the looniest headline ever: "China refuses to ease draconian 'zero-COVID' policy despite rising cases." And in other Covid headlines, a weird modern replay of "The Thing" -- "Covid outbreak at Antarctic research station."

So much for hints, hopes and clues that China would soon be ending its "Zero-Covid" policy. Au contraire. New reports are that they are doubling down, and it's caused Apple to issue a revenue warning (because all their products are made in a gigafactory being shut down). Oh, and by the way, such policies don't even work. After months of brutal lockdowns, China just reported a spike in new cases at a level not seen since May! All in "Recommended Reading," of course.

"Recommended Reading" -- in the Journal of the American Heart Association, a paper on how to identify and treat myocarditis after Covid vaccinations in children. Hmmmm... we guess they wouldn't be worried about how to identify it and treat it if it didn't exist as a significant possibility. Oh, but never mind... amnesty... yes...

In "Recommended Reading," pushback continues to roll in on the "pandemic amnesty" article we highlighted last week. Turns out there are a lot of reasonable people who think the "experts" who locked down the world for what turned out to be no good reason might actually have to take responsibility like everyone else.

In "Recommended Reading," an unusual scare-porn story from Bloomberg's Faye Flam, who has been a voice of reason all along. "If You’ve Had Covid, Watch Out for Stroke Symptoms." And if you haven't, then don't?

Earnings season shocker -- Moderna misses, guides lower, stock falls 14% this morning. We've been showing you the data for months: vaccine update has fallen to zero. We've moved on.

In "Recommended Reading," the best Covid story ever. When there was a big breakout at Shanghai Disneyland, instead of locking everybody out, they locked everybody in!

Sometimes in "Recommended Reading" we have to point you to ideas that are dangerously wrong. Today it's an essay by an economist pretending to suggest "amnesty" for all the mistakes that were made during the Covid era. Sounds like a good idea -- maybe better to just move on. Sadly, it's just propaganda: a manifesto for forgiving what she calls "the right people" but not one's political enemies. Read it if you want to see the way devious political operatives are exploiting the aftermath of the crisis to perpetuate a never-ending blame-game in the guise of mercy.

After the Omicron wave, and a couple of aftershocks, world cases are now making new lows not seen for over a year.

As it should be, China is at the center of the weekend's Covid news. An outbreak in the massive city-scale Foxconn factory (where all the iPhones are made) has driven draconian lockdowns, and tens of thousands of workers are now fleeing, as what amount to refugees, flooding nearby cities hardly prepared to accommodate them. At the same time, the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions has released a staff report claiming the virus leaked from a Wuhan lab (and it's even getting some respectful coverage in the mainstream media).
