Covid-2019 - 2021-01-30
We got our first shot yesterday in Dallas, as 1.69 million did nationwide. The only side-effect was uncontrollable joy. Meanwhile, the CDC has updated its vaccination data and definitions for long-term care residents -- and, of course, it's not good. Turns out their data includes not just nursing homes, but assisted-living facilities too. And not just residents, but staff (and there are almost as many staff as there are residents, because of the need for multiple shifts). So it's hardly "mission accomplished," as it seemed from last week's numbers. Combining residents and staff, 66.7% have had the first shot, which is good, but only 11.3% the second, which is bad. Both are far above the total-population, which is good -- but far short of what it seemed, which is bad.
