The public's appetite for considering the "lab leak theory" of the origin of Covid-19 seems to be a product of comfort that the crisis has passed. Now that we're in a little bear market rally of new cases in the US, the New York Times is promoting a paper calling itself a "critical review," pointing toward zoonotic origins instead. We weren't aware until now that this subject was a matter of literary criticism.
