The data doesn't show that social distancing helps, so maybe re-opening the economy won't hurt

Update to Strategic View

Data on Covid-2019 cases and fatalities across US states show a slightly negative correlation with the degree of economic lockdown. We show this by creating a lockdown score derived from the length of time six social distancing mandates have been in place in each state. Results imply the risk of reopening the economy may be less than feared, because of a demonstrably poor relationship between lockdown and the spread of Covid-2019.
