What you're not hearing about the more infectious vaccine-resistant Covid-19 variants
Something new to be scared about now that vaccines are available. But the facts don't support the fears.
Update to Strategic View
New daily cases of Covid-19 are rolling over in the US, now down to levels not seen since October. The vaccines are probably not responsible, but we are on track for herd immunity by mid-June. Scare-claims about UK and South African variants are not backed by facts. New cases are falling more in the UK and South Africa than in the US, which wouldn't likely happen if the variants were more infectious. The South African variant is said to be render the vaccines ineffective, but research by the manufacturers and independent studies both say otherwise. As cases fall, there will be fewer new mutations because there will be fewer opportunities for the virus to reproduce.
