A disputed election could hinge on the interpretation of Constitutional provisions and federal statutes that have never in history been reviewed by any court.
Update to Strategic View
A disputed election, rife with accusations of fraud, will be litigated as a first-time test of the 2000 Bush v. Gore ruling. The president could end up being selected by the House. If the House can't decide, the Senate would pick the vice president and he (she) would become president -- with Pence possibly breaking a tie to select himself. The Twefth and Twentieth Amendments rule the process, but neither has been tested in court. It's not even clear what constitutes a "majority" of Electoral College votes.
